Flexi-jobs in 2027: what changes for hospitality employers?

The flexi-job system has become indispensable for many Belgian hospitality businesses. At the same time the government wants to curb abuse and strengthen flexi-workers' social protection. Several adjustments are therefore being considered for 2027.

What stays the same

The basics remain: anyone working at least four-fifths for another employer, or who is retired, can earn extra in hospitality with favourable tax and social-security treatment. The mandatory Dimona declaration for every shift also stays.

The basics remain — but your time registration needs to be in order today.

What might change

There is talk of an adjusted annual ceiling for tax-free earnings, and of a digital hours register to be kept in real time. Inspections would also become more targeted, focusing on businesses where flexi-workers make up most of the staff.

What can you do now?

Make sure your time registration is in order and use a scheduling tool linked to your payroll provider. Partners such as De Flexijobber handle Dimona and contracts automatically, which greatly reduces the risk of mistakes.

Please note: this article describes proposals that have not yet been finally approved. We'll keep you informed as soon as the new rules are confirmed.
